Much as we hope your child will sail smoothly through childhood without a glitch, storms can hit unexpectedly. We partner with you thoughtfully and deliberately to ensure that we support your child and meet their needs throughout their time with us.
Form teachers
Form teachers
Your first point of call with any worries is always your child’s form teacher, who knows them best. The Deputy Head (pastoral) has overall responsibility for wellbeing and knows all the children very well. Together, we work as a team to put in place the right support to help your child through their struggles.

What does that support look like?
No two situations are ever the same, but we have a range of proactive tools and people at our disposal:
Nurture groups in specific year groups, run by a Higher Level TA with counselling experience – one each for boys and girls in each year, put on as required
One-to-one or group therapy sessions with professional psychotherapists from Terapia
PHSE programme with flexibility to respond to issues arising each week
Workshops & assemblies from visiting organisations e.g. a Year 6 talk from the local police on personal safety, when the evenings get lighter and Year 6 children start to walk home
Internet safety sessions for children, parents and staff.

Modern Approach to Therapy with Terapia
Professional psychotherapists from the organisation Terapia use in-depth counselling skills and non-verbal techniques such as art, play, drama and music therapies in one-to-one sessions to enable children to express themselves, work through difficulties, release anxiety and improve their self-esteem.
Our partner therapists are at the school four days a week to support our children during one-to-one or group sessions.
Staff members and parents are encouraged to refer the children to our Learning Support Team who will work with Terapia to decide on the best approach to support the children in need.
Therapy sessions are held in a supportive, safe and warm space involving play, talking and creativity.
Terapia also offers parenting sessions – from three to twelve 50-minutes sessions per parent.
Finally, professionals at Terapia are working along with the Learning Support and the Senior Leadership teams to hold themed group sessions and workshops on common themes.
