Devonshire House School opens a brand new fourth Reception class this September after the success of their innovative Musical Forest School Taster.
Last term, children from Devonshire House Nursery and prospective children registered to join Reception in September 2025, had the chance to take part in an exciting and imaginative Taster Session, offering a transition to what awaits them in Reception next year. Aimed at children aged 3 to 4, the event was inspired by the beloved story The Gruffalo, blending adventure, nature, and creativity in an unforgettable experience.
The journey began in the heart of the school’s own Forest School, where Mrs. Peacock led the children on a magical Gruffalo-themed expedition. Along the way, the young adventurers explored enchanting stories, sparked their creativity, and engaged in hands-on activities that connected them to the natural world. Children had the opportunity to craft, build, and reflect on their experience, all while enjoying a cozy homemade snack and drink in the school’s tranquil setting.
The excitement continued with a vibrant music session led by Ms. Sharp, the school’s Early Years Music Teacher, also a musician with the London Philharmonic Orchestra. Children were introduced to rhythm through fun songs and movement, before being enchanted by a special violin performance that brought The Gruffalo tale to life in an entirely new way.
This special Taster Session served as a preview for prospective families considering enrolling their children in Reception at Devonshire House in September 2025. Many of the children who attended left with joyful memories, and their enthusiasm played a role in convincing parents to secure a place for them, leading to what is set to be the largest entry of new Reception children at Devonshire House School. Due to this unprecedented demand, Devonshire House School has now announced opening a fourth class for Reception this September.
