Mrs Sinead O’Brien – New Head of School from September 2026
We are delighted to announce that Mrs. Sinead O’Brien has been appointed Head of Devonshire House School, an private school in Hampstead, with effect from September 2026.

Governors at Dukes Education have been rigorous in their search for exactly the right person to be the independent school’s next Head. Mrs O’Brien has unvaluable experience of Headship, knowledge of North London, along with the warmth needed to lead and cherish the special ethos of the Devonshire House School’s community.
Commenting on her appointment, Sinead said:
“I care deeply about providing high-quality teaching and creating a school environment where children feel happy, confident, and inspired to learn. I believe that when pupils feel known and encouraged, they flourish, not just academically, but as individuals.
Outside of school, I am a mum to three boys, two of whom are now grown up and independent, which gives me a real appreciation of how quickly children grow and how important these early school years are.
I am truly delighted to be joining Devonshire House School in September as being one of the leading prep schools in North London. I am very much looking forward to meeting all the pupils, staff, and families and I am excited to spend time in school over the summer term, getting to know the community and beginning to build the strong relationships that are at the heart of any happy and successful school.”
Henry Keighley-Elstub, current Head of the independent school, added:
“I’m so, so pleased that the Governors have appointed Mrs. O’Brien to be Head of Devonshire House from September. We talked at length at the shortlist stage and I saw Sinead as the perfect next leader of our happy, successful school. Sinead and I will now work together to ensure plenty of opportunities for her to see the children, the teaching staff and of course the parents in the Summer Term.”
