About the School : Highlights 2008
In addition to our Academic results, in 2007 -8 our pupils achieved the following:
Mathematics
10 gold certificates in the Junior Mathematics challenge.
One Upper 6 is the youngest qualifier for the Mathematics Olympiad
General Knowledge
Under 11 General Knowledge team came 4th in the annual Prep School competition, equal with Westminster Under school.
Chess
Many individual winners, some of whom have been playing at County level
Our Under 9 team made it to the National finals beating schools such as Colet Court and Haberdashers.
Our Upper 4 girl is the only girl in the 96 players in the final.
We finish 8th in the country!
Sport
Upper 4 football team win the Salcombe Tournament.
The girls have played Netball and Hockey with considerable success.
Under 13 1st cricket team have won all but one of their matches this season.
Several pupils qualify for the National Schools Athletics finals.
At the Durston House athletics tournament four boys won their events and our team won the relay.
Two Upper 8 boys have been invited to join the North London Elite Football Squad.
An Upper 6 boy was batsman of the day at Haileybury and has also been selected for the U11 London Schools' County Cricket team.
At the ISA nationals two boys won their age group at cricket ball throw and our under 11 girls won the relay.
Music
Choirs sing at the SATIPs Songfest,
Choir invited to sing at singing at a local hotel over Christmas
Choir perform at the North London Music Festival.
Many children have passed various grades on a selection of instruments.
The extra subjects concert gave many their first chance to perform.
The interhouse music competition was narrowly won by Nightingale, with an Upper 4 the individual winner.
Extra Subjects
The programme has been supplemented by yoga this year
Pupils have excellent results in Speech and Communication examinations
All children passed their Ballet examinations.
Other
In the National Handwriting Competition, we had a winner and a runner up in the Under 7 category.
We had had several runners up in the Frances Holland Art competition
Ten pupils in the final of the David Shepherd Wildlife exhibition
Our pupil came 2nd in the More House Art competition.
Catering
Both kitchens have been awarded the coveted five star award from the DHO.
